Feedback configurations for the active antenna
The active antenna constsis of a short rod antenna and an amplifier that drives a 50 \(\Omega\) cable with the antenna signal. The short rod antenna can be considered an E-field probe. It converts the E-field at the location of the antenna into a voltage. The impedance of this signal source is capacitive and accurately known. Both the open-circuit voltage and the short circuit current of this source can be taken as electrical input quantity for the amplifier. In cases in which the current is selected, the gain of the amplifier should obtain an integrating characteristic to compensate for the differentiating character of the voltage to current conversion of the antenna.
