How do we design the amplifier’s desired dynamic response?

Frequncy compensation techniques

The frequency response of the feedback amplifier can fully be modeled with the pole-zero pattern of its source-load transfer.

However, it is common practice to use the phase marging of the loop gain as figure of merit for the dynamic response of the feedback amplifier. Unfortunately the phase argin only shows a unique relation with the frequency response of the source-load transfer if:

  1. The loop gain shows a clear relation to the source-load transfer

  2. If the order of the system is equal or less than two and there are no zeros in the loop gain

In this seminar we will focus on the design of the pole-zero pattern using different compensation techniques.
